Real Radio Yorkshire
Between
February 2003 and August 2008 I was part of the award winning team
at Real
Radio Yorkshire where I worked as a reporter and newsreader.
During my time there the station enjoyed huge success at industry
awards ceremonies and was regarded as one of the best radio newsrooms
in the country. In 2010 I returned to the station in a freelance
capacity and am regularly heard reading weekend news bulletins.
I enjoyed putting together the everyday reports on the sorts of issues important to the station's target audience and trying to make them both interesting and engaging. As well as these more run-of-the-mill stories there are several notable highlights that I am immensely proud of.
In 2006 I travelled to America to report on the final week of Jane Tomlinson's fundraising bike ride which started two months earlier in San Francisco and eventually finished in New York. The reports I put together also formed the basis of a 40 minute documentary about Jane's fundraising which was broadcast the following year and again repeated following her death.
